The free fall of Caburní, a natural wonder

Really known under the name of Salto del Caburní, in honor of the fluvial current that originates it, this beautiful Antillean waterfall is one of the most beautiful views of the heights of the Great Topes Collantes Natural Park, in the Guamuhaya Mountain Massif, in the central province. of Sancti Spiritus.

Nothing better then than to refer to this wild and beautiful place around October 18, World Day for the Protection of Nature, on behalf of the habitats of flora and fauna that have programs, actions and laws on the Island aimed at their survival and conservation.

A very difficult job due to the meteorological events in the region, the ravages of climate change and the isolated unconscious and predatory tendencies of human beings, combatted with education and legal measures. Returning to the site in question, the travelers who have arrived there and the countrymen of the area are pleasantly impressed by the music emanating from the passage of the Caburní River, similar to a whisper.

The crystalline water circulates permanently, jumping and bending, perennial movement, like the flow of life itself. Even a philosopher can become anyone, or a poet, admiring the landscape in those mountains. Looking up, you can see the great waterfall in free fall of 64 meters, descending towards a clear pool, ideal for immersing yourself in it.

It is surrounded by aromatic and fruit trees such as rose apples, a small paradise between songs of tocororos -our unique national bird-, mockingbirds and the also colorful and fine cartacuba. It only remains that an undine or nereyda appeared there to give the spell more dreaminess. The bath or dip in that kind of natural pool is the great prize of that wild niche for those who venture on that rewarding trip.

The site belongs to the famous Trinidad municipality, close to one of the most beautiful colonial cities in Cuba, also very attractive for lovers of historical and cultural tourism.

The majestic Topes de Collantes Grand National Park, in the Guamuhaya mountain range, offers the unforgettable experiences of being able to practice mountain hiking, horseback riding, contact with the rich culture of the inhabitants of the countryside, contemplation and sighting of the forest and the fauna, very biodiverse. Its humid forests are almost always green and fresh, with a very pleasant average temperature.
