Highlighting the International Sports Tourism Forum as its marquee event, the Latin American International Tourism Fair (FIT) 2026 in Buenos Aires concludes this Tuesday following four action-packed days.
Held at the expansive La Rural exhibition center in the bohemian Palermo neighborhood, the landmark 30th-anniversary edition brought together over 350 exhibitors from 60 countries and Argentina’s provinces, alongside major hotel chains, airlines, and tourism service agencies.
The fair opened its doors to the general public over the weekend, drawing record-breaking attendance, while the final two days were dedicated to B2B working sessions for travel industry professionals.
Promoted and co-organized by UN Tourism, FIT Latin America, the Argentine Federation of Travel and Tourism Enterprise Associations (FAEVYT), Visit Buenos Aires, and the City Government, today’s concluding Forum explores the trends, opportunities, and transformations positioning sports tourism as a key driver of destination development.
Through panel discussions and dedicated networking sessions, authorities, sports federations, destinations, corporations, investors, and specialists are sharing insights and forging new partnerships to strengthen the sector across Latin America.
World-renowned Argentine athletes are also in attendance.
The Dominican Republic served as the Guest Country of Honor at this year's FIT. For the occasion, the Caribbean nation’s Ministry of Tourism brought a dynamic showcase that allowed both the public and industry professionals to immerse themselves in the country’s diverse attractions.
Under the tagline “Dominican Republic Has It All,” the delegation showcased a broad spectrum of experiences, ranging from its famed beaches and hotel infrastructure to its gastronomy, culture, and traditional rhythms.
Mexico, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Brazil, Panama, and various Caribbean islands all participated in the 30th-anniversary edition of FIT, highlighting their unique tourism assets to attract more visitors.
Cuba also marked its 30th consecutive year of participation at the fair. In recognition of this unbroken presence, FIT’s Presidency presented a special award to José Antonio Aguilera, Cuba’s Tourism Counselor for the Southern Cone, handed over by Fair President Adrián Monzatti and General Director Gonzalo A. Páez.
