Acosta Danza Premieres Piece by Spanish Choreographer Goyo Montero

Cuban company Acosta Danza premieres on Friday a piece by Spanish choreographer Goyo Montero, through which he decided to question the fear of difference.

The company, directed by ballet dancer Carlos Acosta, will perform on August 2, 3 and 4 in Teatro Nacional de Cuba's Avellaneda Hall, where the choreography 'Llamada' (Call) will be performed for the first time. Montero said that his new work deals with the search for sexual plenitude and the concept of gender, in the midst of a culture that rejects everything different. Montero won the first prize of the Ibero-American Competition of Choreography in Cuba in 2006 and the Villanueva Prize in 2007, granted by the National Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba. Goyo Montero's piece 'Imponderable,' based on a lyrics by Cuban trovador Silvio Rodriguez, and the choreography 'Twelve,' which mixes sports, dance and mathematics, complete Acosta DanzaÂ&ás 7th Season .
